ARTICULATION PAGE: GENERAL YEAR 13 WRITING LEARNING OUTCOMES

1) The student uses various means of preparation for writing such as reading, outlining, prewriting, and note-taking.

2) The student revises work through various drafting techniques such as listing, outlining, free writing and rewriting.

3) Through the use of techniques of prewriting and drafting the student can produce a polished piece of writing.

4) The student uses Standard American English and is able to write at year 13 college writing standards.

5) The student uses scientific writing standards appropriate for year 13 including proper format, objectivity, clarity, evidence, logic and brevity.

6) In writing about experiments or research the student identifies the questions that allowed the formulation of a testable hypothesis and relates logical connections between scientific principles and the experimental design.

7) The student uses word processing and its features for grammar and spellcheck effectively.

8) The student chooses and can use the appropriate styles of writing for different projects (lab reports, article reviews, research reports, etc.) and different audiences (science discipline, general, academic, etc.).
